CIOFF Festivals

CIOFF® (International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts) is an Official Partner of UNESCO, accredited to the ICH Committee. Created in 1970, the duty of CIOFF® is safeguarding, promotion and diffusion of traditional culture and folklore.

Associação CIOFF Portugal represents Portugal in CIOFF® and its members constitute a network of Portuguese festivals and groups.

CIOFF® Festivals promote cultural exchange and Peace among Peoples. In these festivals, take part national groups and at least 5 foreign groups, which present dance and live music performances, handicrafts, workshops, traditional games, etc. In Portugal there are 9 CIOFF® Festivals and 2 Associate Festivals, which take in their organization more than 1.000 volunteers annually.
