Apresentação

The CIOFF Portugal Association aims to establish cooperation and solidarity among its members in the selfless nature activities that develop within the organization and participation in International Folklore Festivals as well as the preservation and dissemination of Portuguese traditional art and culture.

Within the framework of its powers, namely to ensure the representation of Portugal to the CIOFF® (International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Traditional Arts) and create a network of Portuguese festivals and groups, the Association CIOFF Portugal integrates currently 50 members, including effective, and associated fees.

Created in 1970 with the objectives of safeguarding, promotion and dissemination of traditional culture and folklore, the CIOFF® is an international non-governmental cultural organization (NGO) that has formal consultative relations with UNESCO, having been accredited in 2012 by Intergovernmental Committee, as a Consultant for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. The CIOFF® is now represented in more than 101 countries on 5 continents, which provide more than 300 festivals a year.
